Do all sports betting sites take money out of what you earn from each winning bet?
I’m new and want to try out a sports betting site but I didn’t understand why you don’t receive your total amount of what you bet. Like if I bet 10 dollars on the straight up game I only receive like 4 bucks for winning the bet. Why don’t i receive 10?

That’s how all sports betting works, it’s called the vigorish (or vig) or juice. It’s how sportsbooks make money. Live or online.
For example, when you see Powerhouse University vs. Barely there division I College, it’s inherent that the big powerhouse will always win straight up (though some examples are contrary, though rare). Heavy favorites will always have a low payout per dollar risked. And heavy dogs will always have a high payout per dollar risked. So if you bet that same $10 on the dog, you might get a $15 payout plus your original bet amount, for a return of $25.
When you have pointspread betting, the payouts are a little more close to even. Sometimes it is even. But mostly, you are risking $11 to win $10. Or whatever is relative. This is usually denoted by the “-110″ mark. Sometimes lines makers will adjust payouts to even or -105 to sway betting in the other direction.
I know it might seem to be a lot to digest, but I hope you get the gist. You can check http://dagus-statistics. com/sportsbetting101. htm for a better perspective on how sportsbooks calculate their payouts. Also check http://dagus-statistics. com/reviews for a list of reliable online sportsbooks that I recommend. With any other site, you risk getting scammed. Hope this helps.

It depends what you bet on.
The bet you made must have been a bet 10/win 4 type of bet, and I hope you’d know the odds before making it.

You need to look at the odds for what you are betting on. For example if the oods are +125 and you bet $100, if you win you will receive $125 plus your $100 back. I dont know what sportsbook you play at but I would suggest you play here http://affiliate. intertops. com/processing/clickthrgh. asp?btag=a_1877b_168

are you talking about baseball with your example? Baseball is bet with money lines. In sports like football and basketball it is based on a spread. Lets say that Team X is favored by 4. So Team Y is underdogs by 4. if you want to bet Team X you will put down $11 minus 4 points. So if Team X wins you will get your 11 plus 10 back. And no, no sites don’t have a vig. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t necessarily make any profit. The goal of a bookmaker is to have the exact same amount of bets on each side so they are guaranteed a profit. That is why lines change, to try to get people to bet on different sides.

Depends on the odds you bet on, for example if you bet on odds 2. 0 you wll reiceve 20 if bet 10. If the odds are 3. 0 you will receive 30 for 10 staked.

Yes, it is known as the “juice”. And it is typically 10%.
So if you like the Vikings minus 11 points on Sunday and you want to bet $1 on them, if you win, you will win back $. 90 ($1. 00 X . 9) plus your original dollar so you will get back $1. 90.
This is how the house makes their money. They try to get an even number of bettors on both sides of the sporting event then they will take in more money than they pay out.
If you want to bet on the Vikings without giving a pointspread, then you will see a line such as -400. This means that you have to bet $1,000 to win $400. Or in your case $10 to win $4. You are betting on a team that is a big favorite and not giving any points so you have to lay more money and you win less but it is a safer bet.
Stick with small stakes, bet on more underdogs and you will get the hang of it soon. Good luck!

When you are betting ‘straight up’ then your payout will be much less than what you are risking if you pick the favorite. You will find a complete explanation for new sports bettors at http://www. Sportsbook-Ratings. net/sports-betting-for-newbies
